Level 1 Loss – a level one commercial loss typically involves 15,000 or less affected square feet.  This can be the entirety of a small commercial structure, such as a small office building or daycare center, or only a portion of a much larger structure that has sustained damages.  A level one loss generally requires less labor and resources to address than level two and three losses.

Level 2 Loss – a level two commercial loss typically involves between 15,000 to 60,000 affected square feet.  This can encompass the entirety of a medium sized structure, such as a small shopping center, or once again, be only a portion of a much larger structure that has sustained damages.  Depending on the type of loss, and severity of damages, level two losses can vary greatly in the amount of labor and resources necessary to mitigate the structure.

Level 3 Loss – a level three commercial loss typically involves over 60,000 affected square feet.  Large churches, schools, hospitals, and multi-unit office buildings are just a few examples of properties that, depending on how much of the building is affected, could possibly fit into the level three loss category.  These “large losses” generally require the highest amount of resources and labor and are often managed by a SERVPRO Large Loss Team.
